Uniform Policy

The School District of Philadelphia has a mandatory uniform policy. All students must be in uniform all days including the last week of school unless the school grants permission for a special occasion or event.

Beginning in the 2024-2025 academic year, we encourage Marian Anderson students to wear monogrammed shirts. These shirts are designed to uphold our school’s standards of professionalism and respect while promoting a cohesive school identity. We encourage Kindergarten through 4th grade students to wear light blue shirts, and students in grades 5 through 8 navy blue shirts.

  • Tops: Light blue or navy with a collar, long or short sleeves. Light blue or navy turtlenecks, navy sweaters, sweatshirts, or vests are acceptable in cold weather. Anderson or Arthur t-shirts and t-shirts from school sponsored activities are also considered uniform shirts.
  • Bottoms: Tan or blue or black pants or knee-length shorts. Students may wear tan or blue or black skirts or jumpers. No jeans or tights.
  • Footwear: Students must wear sneakers on the days they have gym. Backless shoes, Heelys and backless Crocs are not allowed.
